The fifth day of \ud835\udde1\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude03\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddee\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf6 also known as Panchami, this day is associated with \ud835\udc0c\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a \ud835\udc12\ud835\udc24\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc27\ud835\udc1d\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc26\ud835\udc1a\ud835\udc2d\ud835\udc1a. Skandam\u0101t\u0101 is four-armed, three-eyed, and rides on a lion. One of her hands is in the fear-dispelling Abhayamudra position while the other is used to hold the infant form of her son \ud835\udde6\ud835\uddf8\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb\ud835\uddf1\ud835\uddee on her lap. Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati\u2019s first son, \ud835\udddf\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddff\ud835\uddf1 \ud835\uddde\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddff\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf6\ud835\uddf8\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude06\ud835\uddee, was also known as \u201cSkanda\u201d. Hence, Maa Parvati is often referred to as Skandmata, which literally means mother of Kartikeya or Skanda.<\/div>\r\n
Skandmata is another form of Maa Durga and is believed to protect her devotees, just like a mother protects her child from harm. She is a powerful goddess whose love and care helped Lord Kartikeya defeat the demon Tarkasura.<\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n
